Banning for violent, abusive posting?

I agree that threads are sometimes closed way too quickly here.

I haven't had an issue with anyone here but had a thread closed a few weeks ago for no logical reason - I guess because Dave Blake didn't like it.

I agree that we should let the COMMUNITY decide if a thread should be closed, instead of just letting Dave Blake close things for no real reason.

Obviously things like spam or trolling should be locked down, but if its not, leave it open and let the discussion flow.

You do realize that it's my job to make decisions and close threads. If you don't like what I have done PM me. A reminder from your forum rules;

[INFO]Moderators: Do not post complaints about Moderators. Windows Phone Central has the highest regard for individuals who volunteer their time to be a moderator. Every day, our moderators read through hundreds of threads and posts, and all decisions by them are final. We trust that any action that a moderator takes will follow the above rules and guidelines. Please send a PM to a Moderator if you have questions about a locked or edited post/thread[/INFO]

I don't remember your situation but if you want to PM me about it I will glady review it.

You closed it because it was "unnecessary". To who? You? There was no trolling, name calling, or anything abusive in that thread.

If it was in the wrong place, it could've been moved. You closed it for no reason and I thought that was a bit childish.

That's why I'm agreeing with some others in this thread - maybe you can see you've been a bit too quick to lock things down - especially when no "rules" had been broken.

This post is in violation of 2 of your form rules if you care to discuss this via PM we can just PM me. I will not have this discussion with you open forum.

You make it sound like this is unique to this forum. It's not - every single forum I've participated on does this - from automobile enthusiasts to collegiate athletic forums. People make the false assumption that forums are a microcosm of a democratic society when they're not - that's why you have to agree with the rules before you can join.

The moderator's gig is a pretty tough one. But if this board was unmoderated it would dissolve into anarchy pretty quickly and become a hot mess in short order. And as a result you'd probably stop posting here.

And unfortunately that isn't the case which is why we have moderators. Even in the physical world this isn't the case.

Unfortunately, a lot if times it's the so called adults who act even worse than my own children... Anonymity of the internet is a horrible thing. It lets you get away with saying whatever you want to without fear of repercussions.

IP blocking will hopefully help clean this forum up a little, but as has been mentioned before, it's up to all of us to stay cool and report those who break the rules.
