Looks like a pretty capable device, especially with the 2GB RAM and EIS (may be similar to DIS). The only thing I would hate about this is the T-Mobile load screen logo or if T-Mobile stops supporting this device in like within 6 months. I would want Microsoft to start pushing updates directly (including firmware) and T-Mobile maintain a clean ROM with preinstalled apps but no carrier loading screen (similar to Rogers, CA Lumias).

I run a nano SIM now and have my wife on a nano. With a quality adapter set this is not a problem. Get one with a plastic back to the cutout and a double sided adhesive. I've not jammed one with that setup yet. When I swap between my 1520 and my BLU, I have to go nano <> micro.

On the Fierce XL, two things stand out for me.
  • Water repellent nano-coating (IP52 certified)
  • Asahi Dragontrail Glass
That's great news in a $140 dollar phone.

16GB internal and 2GB RAM looks to be the new base line for OEMs and very welcome.

I use the Lumia icon and Lumia 640 xl dual sim. I use the little cardboard cut out to switch it from Nano to micro between the two, seems to work well enough.

TMO only sells their 3-in-1 SIM cards. I keep the unused parts as adapters. My Priv and 1520 are Nano so it's no biggie to use the micro-sized part of the card to make it work.

I love that they do this, it saves a trip to their store, and also any cutting.

I picked up an XL from the TM store a couple days ago, and I like it. Like, quick and excellent screen. I can also report that at least in my case, the phone will take a 128GB micro flash card. I had one in my 635 and moved it to the XL, found it, mounted it, all of the music and data I had on it is there and available...no problems at all. The only decision I have now id weather or not to root it and update it to .107. May wait a bit and see how this goes before attempting it.

Got this a few days ago. Now I have a decent backup for my L950. So far this phone does everything I need a phone to do. I drive for my work, so I really appreciate Cortana with talk texting and navigation. Works very well so far.

Websites load fairly quickly and I have not had any screen lockups like I did with the L550.
Camera takes decent pictures in daylight, not anywhere near the detail of the 950 of course, but for $139 with $0 down and $5 and change monthly payments how can you go wrong?

The phone itself feels nice in the hand and the screen is the best part for me at 5.5".

This phone performs so much better than the budget BLU Studio X i had when i was playing around with android.

Ill take a budget windows device over any budget android anyday. The Alcatel Fierce is a great phone for the price. We shall see though as time goes on.

Thanks for the timely post. I just moved my 64 GB micro SD card from my L640 to the new Win 10 OneTouch XL . My music, data and photos are intact the phone sees the 64GB card just fine. Not going to buy another SD card now.

:)

...joking of course.

Goes all day on wifi ... lasts thru a day and a night if you're easy on it.
Sucks the battery down on a good LTE connection with heavy web use, or other connected apps.

I'd say 7 hours is a safe bet with heavy use.
