iP6+ versus iPad Mini

Does one live and the other die? There is a gap in the screen sizes, but is the iP6+ large enough? Will Apple Pay and Watch work with the Mini? Or will an absence of these features make the Mini even more of a niche device - say a latter day iPod Touch?

The iP6+ is a lot smaller than the iPad mini.

I cant see Apple putting NFC and therefore Apple Pay on an iPad. Plus, you don't carry an iPad around with you in the same way you carry a phone.
