WPCentral Question

Will a Verizon 822, fully updated and running DP, work in Scotland with a local sim? If so, what worked, and do you have any suggestions as to which company? A friend of mine travels to Scotland for two weeks in a month or so. I've checked the existing information, but it's not totally clear, especially when it comes to Verizon's updates.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

The 822 is unlocked I believe (I know the 928 was) and has world-compatible hardware onboard for this purpose. (going abroad)

We can't guarantee complete compatibility but you can be sure basic phone functions will work. Data and MMS might take some tweaking of settings, and depending on what bands the carrier uses, whether you'll get LTE/4G, 3G, 2G. See if the bands on the 822 match up with the 'G' you will want - you could probably find that info on Wikipedia. As for what carriers, I have no idea, sorry.

VZW updates are unrelated to its functionality for the most part.

Thanks for the feedback. Looking forward to others with more detail.

Had read in another thread that a Verizon update may have hampered use of other sims, but that a later update might have improved the situation.
