Windows Phone 8x Won"t connect

I've had this Window Phone 8x HTC for a while now. It won't connect to my Windows XP Computer (I know its old) it just says it a camera. I just want to sync my CD's to it.
I tried Zune as that's what the Windows website said then I find out its for Windows 7 not 8 (Why not work for both?) Can someone give me some advice? Like how to make it work ,and if it can't connect, what phone to get next that isn't a Windows or HTC phone as I've lost my patients with this OS and Phone.

The biggest problem here is XP. (using it as a main, internet connected computer now is foolhardy)
Zune won't work with 8 devices, only the previous gen devices which had Zune onboard. Not current ones as Zune went bye bye.

Try the Windows Phone app, its not named creatively, but its more likely to help than Zune.
Don't know if XP is even supported though.

Next thing to get if this entire thing doesn't work is not a new phone (doubt its the phone's fault), but a new computer and/or OS. Even an el cheapo, refurbished computer would work.
