Office mobile can't edit word documents

Hi, has anyone ever had any similar problem like this?
So I'm a heavy OneDrive user, and I always store my writings in it so I can switch between my windows 8 devices (desktop& laptop) in ease.
But what I'm wondering is why can't I edit them in my Windows phone 8 version of the office mobile? It always says: Unsupported content and such. I would really love it that i could just go anywhere without bringing my laptop l, knowing that I could edit them in my phone.

So if anyone has had the same problem and knows how to deal with it, please let me know!rly:

With me, WP8 Office app doesn't edit .doc files. only .docx

It doesn't like anything complicated (strange functions and macros). That's what I've found.
