L720 or L630

Finally Today, i'm going to buy my first wp.. But i'm little bit confused b/w l720 and l630...about their performances and even l630 has a benefit of dual sim also.....one more thing l720 avilable at same cost of l630 as l720 two months old vs l630 brand new.. What to do?

I will recommend you to buy l630.Because it is pre installed with windows phone 8.1.But the problem is that this phone lacks ambient and proximity sensors.

The 720 is a good phone but the model and hardware are from ( I believe ) 2012 so its a older model and dito hardware.

As I posted earlier , if you want better camera choose Lumia 720. If you want latest budget oriented windows phone . choose Lumia 630. Do note that Lumia 630 ships with windows phone 8.1+nokia cyan update on top it. Lumia 720 will get the same very soon. Don't go on specs, windows phone isn't resource hog as android :wink:

ambient light sensor is used to for auto brightness adjustments , according to the light conditions. Proximity sensor disabled the touchscreen when you place the phone near your ear. Lumia 630 uses a different technology to do so , read more about that here How does Nokia Lumia 630 work without Proximity Sensor


Also note that Lumia 720 has double to wake, glance and audio equalizer which are absent in Lumia 630. Go for Lumia 720 :smile:

630s life cycle starts now while 720s life cycle is now at end... Life cycle means the duration of the in which Microsoft will provide updates for certain device

What ? All windows phone 8 devices will get future update(including windows phone 8.1,GDR updates) as far as I know.

Yes indeed it will get proper support from Microsoft.

It might be your daily driver more than 2 years :wink: I have planned to keep my Lumia 920 till 2016

The 720 is a fine device, and what I would have decided upon in your position.
It'll be fine, the 920 is an older device I believe, and is still going. I got on contract last september, so we're in for a while.

You guys haven't understand me rightly... Mjhy point was that MS has promised to provide updates to any phone for 3 years after its availability date so 720 has grown old and will get less updates than 630...am not 630 user am 720 owner and i love its design and preferred it on any other phone but what it has and what it can't have is true and obvious
