Because you have 2GB. It's possible that your phone is trying to save as much space as possible for other content. But if updated to WP8.1 you can buy a Micro SD card and download apps into your SD card

I have a Lumia 820 too... You need at least 2,5 GB free in order to download a game which is about 1,5 GB when it is installed... The other option as it was said is to move in SD card if you have WP 8.1...

Bear in mind that an app/game can take 2-3x the size of the download when it's installed.

Just keep for your self in mind that you need twice the space then the size of a app.... At first the app need to be completely downloaded, after that is going to install itself. And besides that some apps need additional data witch can also be substantial big.
