safely remove hardware not found

When I want to remove my L820 from my laptop (Windows 8.1), I can't find eject my phone by using safely remove hardware and when I double-click on Windows phone Icon I can't see eject Windows phone on the pop-up menu either. Please anyone tell me if it is OK to just withdraw the USB cord from the laptop to remove the phone. Thanks in advance.

I normally just remove mine. I did that like idk countless times since I charge my phone on my laptop. Nothing bad happened yet !

I can't find that option too, so I remove my 720 after charging it transferring directly

I don't remember using the safely remove features, ever to disconnect my phone... nothing bad has happened yet, so I think its not required

I read somewhere that the 'safely remove' feature was necessary in Windows XP due to some weird driver thing. In Windows 7/8.x it's not necessary if the device is idle.

Oh, I just remember that after copying some ebooks into my Kindle I did see the sentence Eject Kindle on the pop up menu. It's weird that I can't remove windows phone that way. I think that there's something wrong with the installation of the windows phone drivers.
