I got to know that cyan update is available for India. I am using DP 8.1 do I have to downgrade to windows 8 black to get cyan update please clarify. Cannot wait if i have to downgrade I am ready to.. By need clarification from people who did it.. I am from India using NL 1520

Hey cyan update is read and available to download for Lumia 1520 in India. No you don't need to downgrade until your company had setup bit locker on your phone. DP 8.1 is the final OS release that is bundled with cyan firmware update. In short you have the OS update , you need firmware update that you can grab it by going into phone settings/phone updates. If you now try to downgrade via Nokia recovery tool , you will no longer be able to downgrade it to windows phone 8.0 since cyan +windows phone 8.1 is the latest OS available for Lumia 1520 now.

Hey Sandeep, what process did you use? Was it downgrade, skip setup, check for update, get cyan, then do setup and restore from your backup? How did it go? Any problems? Did you quickly get your phone back to its original state with start menu and apps? Thanks.

Hi Jason, I have used Nokia recovery tool to downgrade DP 8.1 to Black. Nokia recovery tool is desktop app which will downgrade the DP 8.1 to windows 8 Black version as soon you connect your Lumia phone. Downgrading will take time as File memory is 1.58GB. After downgrading my DP 8.1 to Black, My phone update shown me Cyan update. There are two installations happened in process. 1st installation is Cyan i guess.. and Second installation is windows 8.1. Here are the screenshots..

Cyan is bundled with windows phone 8.1 i.e the second update. First update is small one (4-5mb) which prepares your phone for windows phone 8.1 :)
How is the overall perfomance ?

Thanks guys. I have reset with the Nokia tool - do I need to be signed into my Microsoft account to check for updates? I have tried to check for updates and it says it cannot check - I was hoping to update before signing in an recovering my backup setting etc..

Hi Himanshu, Overall performance is just as it is in DP 8.1 other than some name changes and few options such as cellular + sim in DP to mobile + sim in cyan, and Display Brightness Options increased, Audio could be modified with Eqyalizers and Dolby for external speakers also, motion data, etc.. Hence everything is same compared to DP 8.1.

Ive had a major issue here after down grading
Initially many apps were on my sd card. After down grading and then upgrading my 1520 to the Cyan update all the apps that were initially on the SD card cannot be accessed any more. that means all my app data is gone. The phone says i need to delete the previous app data as it is from a different phone and need to re install the apps

Did anyone else experience the same thing

Hi there, Yes.. if Apps are installed in SD Card it cannot be integrated to Cyan update. Solution is wipe your Apps from SD Card and install Fresh Apps from Windows Store and this time do not forget to check Phone Option from Storage Sense for App Installations. Installing Apps on Phone is suggested as Apps performance will be good than Installing Apps on SD Card.

but isint that really stupid
is this an issue only with the down grading thing or u lose ur app data even when it released on the 925 and 625??

This is not an issue technically.. OS reinstallation wipes off all the data and reinstalls. so if apps are present in Phone memory they will wipe off.. But in your case you have stored in SD card so your apps did not wiped off as OS reinstallation wipes only phone memory but not SD memory..
