Windows Phone 8.1 Gmail Sync

[WPCentral Question]

I read everything online, tried every set of recommendations - it wont sync.
I tried Google tab in accounts/email, it wont show log-in screen.
I tried Advanced Sync with IMAP - it wont work.
I tried Advanced Sync with POP - no luck.

Any other idea? Any good app - im affraid to install UNOFFICIAL apps that can receive contacts and mails...

While I was on DP everything was fine with gmail. If you will do everything right, you will be prompted to add your phone as a trusted device.

P.S. Just a tip, check your time and date, I had some issues with it.

I just set date, time and regions properly. Now the Microsoft account is syncing. But not Gmail

Another guess is wrong password.

Edit 1: I've just set up a Google account on WP 8.0. So either your password is wrong, or try a soft reset (hold power + volume down buttons for 10-15 sec).

make sure ,you entered correct email id and password.
it happens most of the time , we enter something wrong

Could be two step verification? In that case you need to generate a app specific password... Your usual password may not work!

The problem for me now, is that when syncing Google, it takes you to the Google login webpage automatically making it impossible to enter the newly generated password because through the Google portal it is wrong!!! Super annoyed. I keep trying to defend windows phone but they just keep doing dumb crap like this.

Google, Microsoft: please settle your differences and quit pissing everyone off.
