Help with WhatsApp!

There is something wrong with my WhatsApp on WP. Since I updated to WP 8.1 GDR 1, the app is not opening. I'm thinking of reinstalling the app. But I have a doubt, when I unistall WhatsApp, will I automatically leave all the groups I'm a part of? I'm also the admin if a couple of groups.

I'm not sure about uninstalling and reinstalling. However, I had WhatsApp on a Windows Phone 7.x device and switched to a Windows Phone 8 (now updated to 8.1 Preview) device. I did not lose my groups when I installed WhatsApp on a different device.

You will still be in the groups, don't worry.

when i udpated to 8.1 update 1 and installed whatsapp.the first message that prompted was ...
"This whatsapp version is not supported with your windows version".. it still works but hangs at times

You could simply do a backup before you uninstall, which would backup all your chatlogs & don't worry you won't leave any groups.

I'm using Lumia 620 which is still running on amber. I want to upgrade the windows. Does upgrading windows clear your WhatsApp chats? Is there is a way to back up WhatsApp data to an sd so that I retain my chats after the upgradation? Because I really want chat history. Please kindly leave an answer.

You will get the option to restore previous messages. But on 8.1 you don't get notification which is annoying. You have to manually check for messages. WhatsApp is not supported for 8.1 yet but you can still send and receive messages
