Password requirements to update apps?

Just tried to update Viber & office lens and I asked to sign in, then the next screen will ask for my mobile number however the number no longer exist. Is this another way to frustrate me? By having ms email logged in surely I should be in a position to update applications. Another step backwards.

MS store, yes I know viber uses phone number. I am talking about Microsoft and a deregistered phone number.

Have put the email and verified, but everytime I log in I am welcomed by "... Verification code..."!

Seems to me you should log into your Microsft account and do some housekeeping, change the verification options and such..
