Extremely weird problem on my lumia 720. Power button works on touch and not just by pressing

Hey,

For the past couple of days i noticed that my lumia 720 would lock, unlock and bring the power off slider on its own. Initially i chose to ignore it. But today its gotten so chronic that my phone has been rendered useless. It would also power on, on its own inspite of me turning it off. Sometime back i noticed that my power button has gotten sensitive to touch. it would lock, unlock without me pressing the button. instead this would happen by a mere touch of the button. now i dont know why this is happening all of a sudden. plz i need help urgently.

Since I faced a similar problem with a Lumia 710 in the past, I think that the issue is quite likely the power button itself. It's probably due to the wear and tear of the connections of the button to the main circuit board.
I recommend getting it checked at the nearest Nokia care centre. They should do it for free, if your phone is still under warranty.

Try a soft and hard reset. If that did not work, use double tap to unlock to wake up there phone, and to lock it, use this app-

Open the app and pin it to your start screen. Tap it and it automatically locks you're device.

I'd also recommend taking your phone to Nokia care.

thanks all, im doing a reset using the nokia software recovery tool. will see if that helps

i also noticed that when i bring the phone closer to me it unlocks, without having to press any button.

i did a reset using the software recovery tool via pc. things seem to be sorted for now. though i may just hold on for a day or two to see if the problem reappears

I think it's a hardware issue

Don't panic. I replaced my touch pad hardware under warranty. If you have such problem you can head quickly to Nokia care with a video as a proof aw well.

but unfortunatley my phone(720) is out of warranty can any one plz tell me hw much it costs for a touchpad?????

Same issue here. Though it works fine for short spans of time. Today instead of being sensitive its not working at all. Using the camera button to unlock the phone

I am off the waranty period too

i think its not a hardware issue, i think it is a software issue,. While im surfing the net, suddenly the phone .locks multiple times and prompting to shutdown the phone, i taught it is because of the phone "hanging" so i switch off the phone and without pressing the phone to turn on, it turn on itself. now im using double tap to supress the problem
