How can I attach a document to an email?

How do I add a document to a mail. Can I only add photos.? That would be ridicule.

You can add a document first by going to the office hub and sharing the document from there.
 
To add to what rdubmu said and to specifically answer your question, you cannot add a document to an email. You can only add photos. To email a document you must do as rdubmu said. This will create a new email with the document attached.
