Adding an live.com alias to my windows phone

I recently picked up a green Lumia 1520 and I wanted to add an alias to my email accounts so that I can specifically use that account keeping my primary live account from being used publically. I did it on my 925 but that was back in 8.0. It seems a bit different in 8.1.
Has anyone been able to do this?

Do you mean that you have a live.com email account and you have set up an alias to that account?

If so then emails for the main account and the alias come into the main account only. Unless MS have added some wizardry to the mail app then you will only be able to send from the main account email address, not the alias.

I think that you can only use the alias to send from the Outlook desktop program. Not entirely sure about that though.

The modern UI and phone version of Outlook don't really support the use of alias in any meaningful way imo.

Turns out I was incorrect. Even from the Outlook desktop application, you can't send from the alias. Must be a limitation of outlook.com
