How to type em or en dash on Windows Phone 8.1?

Hi. I see that a similar question seems to have been asked and the only answer seems to be using an ASCII converter app, and that is perhaps possible by using copy/paste as you switch back and forth between the converter app (and I've been able to find at best half-way decent ones) and where we want the character to be typed, but it's not very practical for frequent use. If it's not possible to change the keyboard, does anyone know of an additional language that has these in its keyboard and could perhaps be enabled in addition to the English keyboard? Thanks very much for the response. Without some kind of a keyboard extension/language, there's still some switching back and forth necessary, but this seems to be the best one I've seen so far in terms of separate apps.
