I have the 1020 and I am running into a few speed problems with developer preview 8.1 update 1 running on top of cyan. Does anyone have an opinion if just regular cyan is faster than the developer preview 8.1 update?

it is, well least for my 1020, i'm using Singapore Country Variant Unlocked version, won't go back to enroll in Developer Preview, Cyan brings most important change ,the 8.1 OS update and fixes the long resuming i used to get along with random reboots in Developer Preview, i don't mind waiting until official Denim is launched with Live Folders

Did you try cyan with the developer preview?

How are you guys coming to this conclusion that a device without Update 1 is faster?

I guarantee its not proper testing...

no no proper testing but when i tried the 1st version of update 1 with cyan,it was buggy(camera crash etc),phone heated up alot and bad battery life
i know its a developer preview etc and that it could have been fixed in the latest update but the others with the latest say its not yet improved
i downgraded to cyan's stock 8.1

That's what I figured. Stock was probably better cause you had to wipe your phone and downgrade.

It would be ideal to wipe before all updates, but I know some people can't because of Game data.

i actually was forced to wipe before updating to update 1 itself as my memory had run out,so i did a hard reset twice

On stock cyan, it is considerably faster, battery life is about the same, but it really does make a difference.

i heard battery life and camera issues differ from model to model on DP
on my 720 i had loads of issues but my friends 520 didnt have any surprisingly
best is to check the forums for your model before updating
