Can no longer turn off phone while streaming & keep listening

I've updated my t-mobile 521 today. this is the 1st update since upgrading to wp8.1 a week or two ago. I have been able to listen to streaming radio after pushing to power button off but since today's update that's no longer the case. If I could just turn off the screen it wouldn't bother me too much. Has anyone else seen this??
