That doesn't show the "arrow" the OP is speaking of. I also noticed it on 9/24/14 after the Cyan update. The page you showed a link to, doesn't say anything about it. I will try to get a screen shot of it next time.

It shows which is handling the data, WiFi or Mobile data connection.
In the image above it is WiFi currently operating.
