Why is my Lumia 625 stll stuck in Amber?

Lumia 625 stll stuck in Amber

My Friend has an unlocked lumia 625 which he bought in UAE and is now using here in india. The OS is still stuck in lumia amber and no matter how much i try the phone still says its up-to date. What am i missing here? is it because its being used in a different country (probably not coz its a Global Variant AFAIK).

maybe it was a carrier locked handset,you can flash it using Nokia care suite to another countries rom,preferably india since the 625 got cyan and black first in India and a few more countries

i dont think thats the case. we have been able to use indian SIM, which is not possible for carrier locked phones right? i'm pretty sure its unlocked.

Try Nokia Software Recovery Tool... Get the correct OS and Firmware.

i dont think thats the case. we have been able to use indian SIM, which is not possible for carrier locked phones right? i'm pretty sure its unlocked.

its possible it is a carrier locked phone which got unlocked from the carrier
still its worth a shot
