Reminder pop ups get in my way

I really like and depend on the task and calendar reminders but I don't like how they pop up and require me to snooze or dismiss them before I continue on with whatever I am doing. They even pop up when I am in the middle of typing a text, that really annoys me. Can't they just show up on a tile for me to address at my discretion? Maybe just give me occasional beeps to let me know there is something there? My crackberry used to do that 10 years ago.
I also wish there were more options for the snooze times. Like they have for the tasks in Outlook maybe. I mean, either 4 hours or a whole day, nothing in between. Seriously?
as of yet, I haven't found any apps that improve these features.

When your device gets 8.1.1 it will have customization of snooze time...

It's an alert. The phone assumes it's important. Hit the back button and it will still be in the Notification pull down area for you to deal with when you finish your task.

You have your sync wound too tight. Open Calendar > Settings. Uncheck "Contact's birthdays and event" on the various accounts that are over-alerting you...
