Before going through the detailed comprehension, I would like to highlight that I am not a computer engineer or some tech expert. I am just a normal PC user, gamer to be precise but Windows 10's tech-preview is driving me crazy and I want to try it out on my laptop. So my laptop is:

HP DV6 6168tx
Core i7 2670QM @2.2Ghz
8GB RAM
2GB dedicated Radeon HD 6770M GPU
1000GB HDD

My question is:
I am wiling to sacrifice everything for Windows 10. Should I install it? Is my laptop compatible for the preview?
The things I want to run are MS-Office, Firefox, Steam(CS:S). Am I able to run those programs in tech-preview? What about the drivers? Will they be available?

I can always downgrade to 8.1 later as I will be installing it over my primary machine.
Thank you,

You can also install it on VM (Virtual Machine) without it overriding your current OS. You'll be able to run it in a window. VirtualBox and VMWare are free I think.

This is a very early version of Windows 10. It could be buggy, or it could be lacking many of the features that will be in the finished product. I wouldn't want to run it on my primary PC. Use a vm. Oracle's virtual box is free and it works great!

Just install it on Hyper-V (if you have 8.1 x64) or VMWare Player if Windows 10 crashes and burns then at least it won't destroy your laptop.
