While we do have occasional frustrations due to the carriers, yes, our phones can always be updated to the most up-to-date version of Windows Phone.

I wonder what mobile OS came up first with OTA updates. Hmm.

But yeah Windows Phone has pretty great OTA updates similar to iPhone.

So far the only restrictions to updates are OEM's releasing compatible firmware and carries in the US pushing out the updates. If you can hold out on firmwares, the Developer Preview allows you to get your updates direct from Microsoft.

This is one reason the hardware requirements for Windows Phone were stricture than that of Android.

Well if you mean OS only and not firmware then absolutely via the Developer Preview program, if you mean OS and firmware then hahahaha no, you'll have to wait weeks if not months of carrier "testing" before they release the update.
