Why wont my windows phone play music i sync from my media player on windows 8?

I have recently had a new laptop with windows 8 operating, i also have a windows phone. Today i have added music to my library and successfully synced it to the phone. However, when i go to play it says "sorry we cannot play this song as it may be corrupt or an unsupported file type" or " users must be signed in to use this facility" rather fed up now as i was told it was a very straight forward process. Busy life, 4 children, constantly on the go, just want some music on my phone can anyone help me? please?

Instead of syncing i would just copy paste the music in the music folder on the phone
