I'm looking to getting myself a Surface Pro 3 for Christmas but with Windows 10 coming out, should I wait for the next generation of Surface Pro's or will the current Pro 3 be upgradeable to Windows 10?

The Surface Pros are full PC's, so to think they wont be upgradeable is almost laughable.
Heck, you can install your Linux distro of choice if you so desired.
Windows 10 is still a year out.
I don't think MS has "extreme new things", but I'm not expecting a Pro 4 for a while.

If you hold off on the Surface Pro 3 you will be back here next quarter and say "Should I hold off on buying a Surface Pro 4?" and someone will tell you to wait and you will be here the following quarter after that and be like "Should I hold off on buying a Surface Pro 5?"

The surface is not like an iPAD, it's a PC with a awesome form factor. The only issue that would prevent me from telling everyone to buy one is that MS's hardware support is poor. But no one has as good a form factor with the performance of the surface lines. They are very nice machines, we have several in our office.

It will be upgradeable to Windows 10. That's not a problem, you can even put the preview on it now if you want. I have a pro 3 and love it. Super portable and fast.

Today Microsoft said that surface 3 will be upgradable to Win 10. http://blog.surface.com/2014/10/surface-commitment-to-business/
