How water resistant are mics/speakers today?

Just a question that came to mind after I got a fee drops of water on my L1520's top speaker/mic. Seems to be working well, but are most phone's today able to withstand some sweat and rain, maybe even the occasional spill?

not enough to really say they are, but probably by design/coincidence the fancier electronics are a bit back and the speaker/mesh stuff is up front.
