Why doesn't phone ring when phone is locked?

After i put in my password it rings when i get a call

Carrier? Model? OS? Attempted fixes?
If it's a GSM carrier (or an LTE phone) turn off the phone, replace the SIM card, and restart.
If that doesn't work (or not possible), restart the phone.
Without more info, can't help much more.
