Why are color lines showing on my screen?

My screen has been showing color lines for a while now (at least 5 months), but now the lines are so bad, I can't see stuff on the screen. Is the screen damaged? Is this a software issue? thanks in advance

It sounds like the screen is damaged. Could you post a picture?

It could be multiple reasons. Since you did not post what device the issues is with, I'm assuming its either a phone or a laptop. In both cases it could be the display cable, graphics chipset, display drivers or purely hardware issue. If it's software then a simple hard reset or driver reinstall would fix it. If it's hardware then you'll need help from a technician

This looks more like a hardware issue, either your flex cable is bad or the display
