Do you need the wireless charging plate in the phone to charge the phone with a cord?

I have a nokia lumia 920. And today it just stopped charging and I think its the connections between the motherboard and the wireless charging plate within the phone itself. Which is why I would like to know if the wireless charging plate was removed from the phone, would the phone still charge with a cord?
