Windows Central Question

I/m going to China for the coming december. and i don't my phone just die out there. Which is dangerous.

First of all, do you really need your phone? Is there cell service? If not, I wouldn't bring your phone. Or any equipment not rated for extreme temperatures.

I don't know if altitude has much effect, maybe someone else can help with that. But the cold will definitely affect any phone. Cold temperatures will drain a battery quickly, and big temperature extremes, like going from freezing cold to a nice warm tent or shelter, can lead to condensation. I would definitely keep your phone close to your body to keep it warm, certainly not in an outside pocket.

I live in Canada, we have had well below -20 degree temperatures here and my 920 has survived fine. As for high altitude, my guess is it should be fine, how high is it?

Lithium-Ion batteries are affected both by temperature and air pressure. At -20? you'd be at the end of the range at which the batteries in your smartphones will function reliably, but it will still work. You will notice a drop in battery life however. Unless you're climbing mount Everest, you shouldn't have any problems with altitude. That's usually only a consideration in planes and such.
