Lumia 530 unlock

Iam in Australia and i want to get a Lumia 530 that's on special here from the Woolworths store but it is sim locked to Telstra our main local provider. Can I install another firmware and unlock it that way or do i need to buy a unlock code or pay Telstra to sim unlock it for me

Installing another firmware does not affect the status of the unlock.

Either way, you will need to somehow obtain an unlock code.
