[L930] Seeing 1-2 Mb or 4-5 Mb photos only?

I have imported photos from my nokia 930 to my iMac. It shows only low resolution photos. one 1-2Mb and other 4-5Mb.

I thought it should shoot one 5Mb and one 16Mb version of same photo. Cant find in settings anyway to change resolution. So I want help to get high resolution photos (16Mb).

go to nokia camera push the 3 dots - definitios and you will see it there

As mentioned above Megapixels is the size of the image measured as area. An image with a resolution of 2000x 5000 pixels would result in an area or megapixel size of 10MP or 10 million pixels in area. That is very different from file size or MB.

A 16MP image is always 16 million pixels in area but the size of the file depends on format. A TIFF or DNG is an uncompressed file and can be huge in size. A jpeg file size can vary depending on how much it is compressed. So you could have a 16MP image with a size of 1MB or 30MB. Compression reduces quality and detail so a 16MP photo with a small file size wouldn't look very good as opposed to one in an uncompressed state.
