Don't have an Android device myself but fairly sure there's an option for auto upload from the camera to OneDrive.
Microsoft was giving a storage bonus for Android users who enable it.

There's an auto-upload feature. (don't know how auto, whether its zero-intervention required like WP, but I think it is, or at least pretty darn close.

Yes you can set auto upload. You can even do full resolution photos, a feature that was unavailable on WP before 8.1.

Have you read the question properly? It reads like you're referring to the app on WP. But then again, in some ways it doesn't?
