Why are emails sent from my windows phone delayed

I have a Nokia 520 with 8.1 and sent emails always take a day to get to the recipient. This doesn't happen on my ipad. What can be done to get normal delivery speed? Receiving emails isn't a problem.

I haven't come across this situation yet. Have you tried removing the email and re-setting it again (does not work for outlook/hotmail). Also what email provider is this that you're having trouble with?
