Why is my CX-5 Blutooth sending but won't read texts?

CX-5 blutooth will send but won't read texts

I just recently updated my phone to a Lumia 830 and everything is great except I can't get my 2013 Mazda CX-5 to read incoming text messages. I can make calls, I can send texts using Cortana but when a next comes in the screen quickly flashes like it's trying to receive the text but then just cuts back to the radio. I've tried repairing the phone, changing Cortana to always read texts, set the "Use an alternate Bluetooth audio connection for Speech", soft reset, even visit the dealership (they were no help). Does anyone have any ideas?

Settings > speech > read incoming texts aloud? What's that set on

It's currently set to Always On. I've tried the other setting (Bluetooth only, Bluetooth and headsets) as well with no luck.
