Lumia 625 battery does not charge anymore, what to do?

I have charged the battery overnight, with a Nokia cable, and found out this morning the battery is still empty. Phone is on, icon of charger is flashing but nothing happens
I can call, use apps etc., as long as the cable is connected. Not handy for a mobile phone. Please help.

What happens when you turn it off by holding the on/off button for a few seconds and then turn it on again? Did you try to soft-reset the phone? You could also try to drain the battery completely and then connect the charging cable and see what happens after a while. Sometimes the usb charging cable is defective. It shows that it is connected, but still won't charge. In worst case, try to hard-reset the phone.
