Why am I unable to connect to mobile data internet after 8.1 update?

I cannot connect to mobile data internet after 8.1 update

I upgraded my lumia 1020 to 8.1 a few months ago and I've been using Wifi for internet. Today I tried using my mobile data internet and I discovered that my phone does not give me the option to enter APN details. I tried a soft reset but there is no change. How can I fix this?

where are you looking for APN details?

you should be able to fiddle with APN under "access point" in Settings. (and maaaybe cellular+SIM)

The way to access APNs in 8.1 is Settings>cellular+SIM>SIM settings. SIM settings are at the bottom of the cellular+SIM page. Three options exist. A toggle for Manual APN, and with that flipped on, the "edit internet APN" and "add MMS APN" boxes should go from grey to black letting you edit them. Enter the APNs you need, if you're not on a national carrier, and road test them with WiFi off.

EDIT: A quick Bing/Google search will give you the APNs you need and where to enter them.

I'm going to settings>mobile+sim.

There are no APN settings

Thanks for the response, the problem is that i'm not even getting an Add/Edit APN icon at all!
