my pc screen just went black.when i rebooted it the whole screen was flickering.its paintful to watch. i got it repaired and that pc guy said the motherboard is hanging on a string and pushing its limits.oh...did i meontion..i kinda overclocked 1.61ghz to 2.02 ghz and it was running fast and it was clocked to that like 3 minutes with increased fan speed. i know a little more than overyone else about computers, i never, ever got a b on informatic,i always have a's so what type of problem is it

Re: motherboard or something else?

There's a lot of things not being said here so to try and tell you what's wrong will be almost impossible and all a person could do is give you an overview of possible issues.

Things that would be helpful:

Motherboard manufacturer and age?
CPU you're overclocking?
Is it built-in video or card? Manufacturer?
Tower case? How many fans?

There's many more I could ask but you get my point. Since you know a lot about computers.

Re: motherboard or something else?

Silly as it seems but the motherboard just cant cope with being overclocked. Its set at a certain speed for a reason... Undo the over clocking and see if it ressumes back to normal

There are a lot of possible issues, as said, we would need a full run down of the build, parts and what was done. I had an AMD 920 Black OC'ed about 15% for 7 years, was fine till my heat sync broke a clip and it fried the cpu and motherboard.
