Windows Central Question

I already use 6snap and no doubt that it is actually better than the official but the recent ban against the third party apps is where the problem comes. I don't want my account to be blocked but then i want to use the app too

Since SnapChat will only accept Official Apps now, you will have to contact them about their plans. They may choose not to support Windows Phone, BB or any OS with a market share under 10%.

It amazes me how many WP users want to support services that won't support them.

Personally, I don't use social media, but these seem to be the services everyone on WP is clamoring for that refuse to make an official App. My bank managed to put in the work to make a Windows Phone App and it works beautifully, looks great and is full function. I have a feeling SnapChat makes more money than my bank does and they won't spend a few bucks to make it happen? I say drop their funky behind in the dirt.

I think if everyone here at Windows Central all took 2 minutes to go write these developers emails we might at least solicit an official response. At least from Snapchat, YikYak, etc. but not Google. Google could give two sh*ts about apps on WP, under any market share figure.

But not everyone here cares about those services or wants to use them... I never even heard of YikYak before I read the post above, how could I want it.?

I find this to be a common misconception, that everyone on Windows Phone needs support from this social media arena and should lobby for it. To each their own. Those services choose to boycott Windows Phone. Why do Windows Phone users not boycott those services?

If I actively work against you, why would you enrich me? Makes no sense and is counter intuitive. Talk about App-Gap all you want, but most users on WP already know the score: lack of "official" apps is the norm. If those sorts of things are of paramount importance to you; you choose iOS or Android. Anything else just looks like pathetic begging. I'm not going around, hat in hand, for any such cause. It's all ready a lost one. I have other priorities and I don't think you'll ever get a united front on this.

Well you're just one person, just because you don't want App x doesn't mean others don't and vice versa.

Right... But you said everyone should... So everyone minus this one at the very least.

I'm pointing out the fundamental flaw in your calculations.

These services are entrenched and no friend would really care to use an alternative service just for one person.
That leaves me with:
A. Not using the service (the less appealing option)
B. Bending over backwards for others and dealing with it. (third party solutions, workarounds...)

The price I pay, but its more than worth it for me.

I had an iPod touch before, I have a Galaxy to play with. Neither camp is appealing to me as a daily driver, nor am I willing to deal with tethering or other inconveniences for a single service. I have carried two devices around before though.

If you actively work against me, yet my family loves and invites you all the time (oblivious to your mean streak towards me) where does that leave me?
Abstain from dinner?
or play nice and not look bad?

I'm sure there's holes in that analogy, I just whipped it up.

I see posts all the time around here to the effect that people are leaving WP to go back to iOS... They state emphatically that since leaving iOS their FAMILY MEMBERS stopped taking to them as they have no FaceTime or Apple iMessenger.

Their Family CUT THEM OUT over a messenger choice.

That makes me sad.

It is the same reasoning for why WP needs SnapChat, FB, etc.

Holy Carp!!!! Your family/friend/spouse/bff won't communicate with you because you aren't on the right App?

And getting the App is the fix? Not fixing selfish attitudes?

I must be old because these scenarios sound rude, hostile and down right belligerent to me. But apparently they are socially acceptable norms now.

I'd rather see people fix their manners than get a free software fix.

I know I'm the minority opinion on this. That makes me even sadder. No one else wants to understand that the App should not control whether you are excepted by those close to you.

You're being a bit... conspiratorial here, aren't you? I'm sure no one's family said, "Mwuh huh ha ha ha! Joe is on a Windows Phone and can't use Facetime, so let's all get iPhones and cut Joe out of our conversations! Mwuh huh ha ha ha!"

So when your cousins, brothers, parents, and other family members use iPhones and you're the lone black sheep with a Windows Phone, what's the reality of what's going to happen? Do you honestly think that those iPhone users are really going to switch to Skype or WhatsApp or whatever just because that's what Joe can use? No, they're going to use their Facetime and iMessage and Joe's going to be left out because he doesn't have it... until he does.

It really has nothing to do with a conscious choice to use a given app, and It's not a selfish attitude at all. People are going to use what's easiest for them to use, and with iPhones that's Facetime/iMessage. In fact, in that situation, the Windows Phone user telling all the other iPhone users to use a different app is the more selfish of the two.
