Alright but are you getting an Ethernet (wired) connection from it or you're not? If not then verify in the Device Manager that the drivers for it are working,

If you don't know how to go to the Device Manager it's easy...

Assuming you have Windows 8.1 installed you simply right click on the Windows icon bottom left of the screen (assuming your taskbar is there.) Then device manager. If you see a yellow exclamation mark under the Network Adapter section it's because there's something wrong with it. If you don't then check the Network Adapter section to see if there's something related to a wired adapter.
