As long as you're in the group, you'll get messages. You can choose to not get BBM notifications in action center, but that will just stop the notifications. The receipt of the messages cannot be stopped.
The only way to completely stop receiving anything from the group would be to leave it. That is how BBM has always worked, even on BB. Even if you show your status as "busy", any messages your individual contacts or group members send you will arrive.
