Why is OneDrive not syncing?

After the 8.1 upgrade a month or so ago, my Nokia Lumia 1020 started freezing with a gray screen. My carrier determined I needed a new phone and in trying to set it up, I realized my data port isn't working. I've also realized that my phone isn't syncing with OneDrive. Game data and documents are not current (photos appear to be ok), but I can't tell why/how the back-ups uploaded (not all have the same date). Modifying a doc on the phone and doing a manual backup doesn't trigger anything in OneDrive.

Is there any way to force OneDrive to sync with my phone? I can modify a doc and upload it other ways, but what about game data? The progress saved is old and there's no way I know of to find the file on my phone and manually upload it.

Yes, you will lose data doing a hard reset.

If you have your phone registered to a Microsoft account then you will be able to restore the vast majority of the settings, apps etc once it's been reset.

You will lose any photos not uploaded to onedrive and whatsapp messages that are not backed up.

Can you get access to it via USB? If so then backup docs, photos etc before doing the hard reset.

No, as I wrote, my data port isn't working. It won't do anything but charge the phone. I can't reset without retrieving items first. It's too much to lose. I'm wondering if it would be worth having the data port fixed so I can back-up via USB before returning the defective phone.

I was finally able to run a backup with help from MS, but game data and folders are still not current. Transferring via bluetooth won't work for some folders because they are system files for games. I have a ticket in so we'll see what the issue might be.
