How do in install minecraft on a surface pro 2?

I was told before we bought this for my son that you could play minecraft on it, but I haven't been able to figure out how to find/install it.

You are sure it's a Surface Pro 2 and not an RT (ARM based) device, yes? If so, you can easily go to https://minecraft.net/ , download the demo or purchase the full version, download and install it and have your kid play right away. You just won't find it in the Windows Store, as it's not an app, but a desktop application.

What exactly is the error you're facing? Because I've just tried it on my Surface Pro 3 and it's working fine.

Minecraft works fine on my Surface Pro 2, took some tweaking to get a good framerate though. (the Pro's more than powerful enough, settings just might not be optimal)
