Why won't my Nokia lumina 1520 pull up tiles, or any functions?

Nokia lumina 1520 will not pull up tiles, or any functions

Hi, guys the front lock screen of my phone is fine, and voice commands work if i hold the button, but besides that my screen is tiles less. it still has the settings bar at the top,but the screen is black otherwise. if i hold the return arrow, the screen turns green and stays there.
any suggestions? i tryed a soft rebot and got the same response each time.

Would you be opposed to a hard reset if your device to see if it corrects your issue?

Power button and volume button pressed down or go to

settings

Reset

Dear erratic. The first is a soft reset and the second he also can not do because his screen is totally green or black so he can not see what he is doing.

See below link for hard reset but be aware that it will erase all your data.

hard reset worked! and my windows account restored nearly everything. thanks guys

Thanks harrie... I always get the combination wrong for soft and hard reset. Lol
