Why won't my phone boot up for the first time?

[Windows Central Question]

I just received my Nokia Lumia 635 and when I attempt to boot it up for the first time it shows the first 'Nokia' screen and then finds itself stuck on a blue 'Windows' logo (no words, just the Windows logo). It's been stuck that way for at least 25 minutes. Has anyone else has this issue?

I figure I'm gonna need to get a new one as it seems bricked to me, but... if I can get it working today that'd be pretty sweet.

Have you tried plugging in the charger then allowing it to boot?

Make sure phone gets charged for while,hold down Volume down + power buttons together to reboot phone.

Okay guys, I'll let it charge for a good while and then try again. Still on the Windows logo after plugging it in but I'll be patient and see what happens. Will keep y'all updated.

I forget which Lumia models have a removable battery, but if the 635 does could you try popping the battery out and putting it back in?
