Not able to connect phone to tv

I cant my connect windows phone to my tv with my usb . Tv shows error no data available , but i have files in my phone.. I tried connecting symbian phone. And it connected.

That's most likely because the Symbian device is detected as simple mass storage device. Something that doesn't apply to a Windows Phone. Your TV would need proper drivers to support it.

If you've got a TV that supports DLNA and you have a Lumia Phone, you could use Lumia Play to.

Yup, that's exactly what I do. Even though my TV itself doesn't support DLNA. Thankfully my Xbox One does. Even PS3, PS4 and Xbox 360 do.
