Why is my Lumia 920 touch-screen getting frequently freezing?

Lumia 920 touch-screen getting frequent freezes

My Lumia 920 is year old and its touch screen has started freezing. Every time this happens I have to reset the device after which the screen works fine for 10-15 minutes and again stops working. What could be the reason?

I showed the device to a local Nokia care center and they told me that presence of some moisture content in the processor chip is the reason for this defect and front panel along with touch screen needs to changed. This is a costly affair considering the reduced market value of this model. What could be an alternative solution, can I procure the required components from somewhere at a cheap price?

You can always buy components cheap if you do not care if they are non OEM components. So if you want to buy them be sure you get the quality you want. What you also could do is buy a second hand 920 and use that. Or buy a "broken" one which still has a good front panel and touch panel.

PS 920 parts are not so difficult to find on internet

I had that issue few times recently
. Back button press usually fixes it for me ..

At least try a soft reset.
A soft reset does not lose data. it is like pulling the battery.
Hold the volume down button and the power button down until the phone vibrates, release. This takes about 10 seconds. The phone will shutdown and restart.
