How can I switch on/off the gps function of my Lumia 830?

Sometimes my gps works offline, sometimes ist does not work. What could be the reason for this behavior?

GPS is switched on by going to Setting > Location> On.

I assume you're talking about HERE maps/drive?

For that to work offline you need to have the maps downloaded to your phone and your Location on. It takes a bit longer for things to get going but it does work.

If you're not using HERE maps/drive then it won't work offline unless the app you are using has offline maps.
