Why is my Nokia Lumia randomly shutting down?

nokia lumia shuts down after not being used for a bit-weather on charge or not
no its not normal-but is a problem just look at all the posts about it on the site-and still not a single answer except reformat and that doesnt cure anything-have done that three times already

I actually think that if you are facing a problem of random shutdown it is the wisest of decisions to format your phone once and then probably update it. Btw what model are you using?
